I really enjoy watching the monarch caterpillars during the late summer/early fall as they munch away and grow on the milkweed around my property. Most of the time I do not find where they transform into a chrysalis. This one decided to stay on the plant within easy sight. After a couple weeks of observing, I was so excited to catch it right after emerging - preparing for the miraculous migration south!
